Huey Lewis is set to star in a fictionalized version of his life in development at Fox, titled Whatever Happened to Huey Lewis . The singer will also executive produce the single-camera, half-hour comedy, which is described as a Curb Your Enthusiasm -style show.

According to Deadline , the project is set to be co-produced by Lewis’ longtime friend Jimmy Kimmel . It will be written by Kirker Butler ( Only Murders in the Building ), who will also serve as executive producer.

In 2018, Lewis revealed that he had begun to lose his hearing due to Ménière’s disease . What Happened to Huey Lewis is described as a lighthearted take on this current phase of his life, dotted by “his codependent family and eccentric celebrity friends.” This won’t be Lewis’ first foray into acting — he took on the role of Billy Flynn in Chicago in 2005 and reprised the role the following year. As for sitcom work, he held a recurring role on Hot in Cleveland , which ran for six seasons.

Earlier this year, a musical inspired by the Huey Lewis & the News discography, titled The Heart of Rock & Roll , opened on Broadway. Lewis also recently on The Story Behind the Song to discuss “I Want a New Drug.”
