This year marks the 40th anniversary of Violent Femmes ’ Hallowed Ground , and in addition to performing it in its entirety on their ongoing tour (get tickets) , the band has announced a vinyl reissue of the album.

Due on November 8th via Craft Recordings, the 40th anniversary edition of Hallowed Ground features a remastered version of the 1984 release, sourced from the original stereo tapes. Beyond the standard black vinyl, the album will be offered in four limited-edition colored vinyl variants, each available from a different retailer.

Released as the follow-up to Violent Femmes’ debut self-titled album, Hallowed Ground is a collection of songs musing on religious themes and the dark underbelly of American folk culture. Among the songs on the tracklist are fan favorites like “Country Death Song,” “Black Girls,” and “Jesus Walking on the Water.”

Along with the vinyl reissue, Violent Femmes will also be celebrating Hallowed Ground by performing it live in its entirety (plus Violent Femmes in its entirety) on their 2024 fall tour. Grab tickets here.
