The previously announced Paramount+ hair metal docuseries Nöthin’ But a Good Time has been slated for a September 17th premiere on the steaming platform. The trailer has also been unveiled and can be seen below.

Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of the ‘80s Hair Metal is based on the similarly titled book/oral history by journalists Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock.

Many of the bands and artists featured in the book, such as Def Leppard, Dokken, Kix, and W.A.S.P., can be seen in the trailer. There is also footage that originally appeared in the Penelope Spheeris’ documentary The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years , such as the infamous pool scene with W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes.

Directed by Jeff Tremaine ( Jackass , The Dirt ), the three-part series explores the over-the-top world of ’80s hard rock and glam metal with interviews from Poison’s Bret Michaels, Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, Dave “Snake” Sabo of Skid Row, and MTV host Riki Rachtman, along with those who were influenced by the era such as Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Steve-O of Jackass fame.

“I’m honored to be part of this docuseries, named after the hit Poison song ‘Nothin’ But a Good Time,’” commented Poison frontman Bret Michaels via a press release. “I’m excited for viewers to take a fresh look at the fans and bands, highs and lows, and to celebrate the music and good times of the ’80s and beyond. I hope the audience enjoys it as much as I did, and I can’t wait for them to have insight into some of those notoriously crazy moments!”

Added Tremaine in the original press release for the docuseries announcement: “This docuseries is a celebration of the most outrageous decade in rock n’ roll. It’s my love letter to the ’80s.”

Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of the ‘80s Hair Metal is executive produced by Tremaine and Shanna Newton for Gorilla Flicks; Eric Wattenberg, Scott Lonker and Will Nothacker for Wheelhouse’s Spoke Studios; Erik Olsen; and Bruce Gillmer and Michael Maniaci for MTV Entertainment Studios. The writers Bienstock and Beaujour, who penned the aforementioned book, are serving as co-executive producers.
