The Offspring brought out a special guest, rising UK alt-rock star Yungblud , during their set at the Openair Gampel festival in Switzerland.

Prior to their performance of “Self Esteem,” The Offspring’s Dexter Holland took a moment to address the crowd.

“One of the cool things about playing these festivals is that you get to play with other people and meet other people, and we met some cool people,” Holland said. “We met this great young man today, we thought we should bring him out to play a song with us, what the hell. ‘Cause that’s what it’s all about, right? It’s not about the photo op; it’s about the camaraderie.”

At this point, Holland and guitarist Noodles introduced Yungblud, who appeared from backstage and immediately started calling for a moshpit before the song had even started.

“This is a fucking dream come true for me,” he said before the band kicked into “Self Esteem.” “This is mental.”

Yungblud’s exuberant energy was a perfect fit for the song as he pogoed around and played hype man, trading off on vocals with Holland. The UK singer was obviously very familiar with the hit song, nailing the second verse with his unique take on Holland’s distinctive nasally delivery. And he couldn’t resist the chance to jump into the crowd and sing the final chorus in the front row.

It appears The Offspring were a generational influence for some of the UK’s young pop rockers. Back in May, we reported on a surprising collab between the pop-punk vets and Ed Sheeran when they performed “Million Miles Away” together at the BottleRock fest in Napa Valley.

Meanwhile, The Offspring are set to drop their 11th studio album SUPERCHARGED on October 11th. The band also has some US live performances on the horizon, including appearances at Riot Fest , Louder Than Life , and more. Get tickets here .
