Rich Homie Quan , the influential Atlanta rapper best known for his hit Young Thug collaboration “Lifestyle,” has died at 34 years old.

Fellow Rich Gang member Jacquees and frequent collaborator Boosie Badazz were among the first to share the news, with TMZ later confirming his death. Rumors of an overdose spread online, but no cause of death has been officially reported.

Born Dequantes Devontay Lamar in Atlanta, Georgia on October 4th, 1989, Rich Homie Quan began making a name for himself by kicking off his Goin In mixtape series with I Go In on Every Song in 2012. With a knack for melodic rapping, he helped define an era of Atlanta trap music alongside contemporaries like Young Thug and Future.

Rich Homie Quan scored his first Billboard Hot 100 entry with “Type of Way” from his 2013 mixtape Still Goin In: Reloaded and further raised his profile with a standout appearance on YG’s smash “My N*gga” that same year.

He then landed a spot in the 2014 XXL freshman class and skyrocketed in fame after linking up with Young Thug as the core of Rich Gang, a collective under Cash Money Records.

The aforementioned “Lifestyle” was a major hit for Rich Gang in 2014, peaking at No. 16 on the Hot 100 chart, and Rich Homie Quan contributed heavily to the group’s subsequent mixtape, Rich Gang: Tha Tour Pt. 1 .

Rich Homie Quan would drop other hits like “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Ride Out” in 2015. His only studio album, Rich as in Spirit , was released in 2018.
