When Linkin Park returns to the road this month, they’ll not only have a new singer and drummer but also a new lead guitarist. In a statement released Friday afternoon, Brad Delson announced that he will be sitting out the band’s upcoming comeback tour , choosing instead to contribute from behind the scenes.

“Over the years I’ve realized I thrive most when I’m actively working with my bandmates behind the scenes—in the studio, collaborating on our new music, and helping build our live show,” Delson explained.

Alex Feder will assume the role as Linkin Park’s new touring guitarist. He made his debut alongside fellow newcomers Emily Armstrong, the band’s new co-vocalist, and drummer Colin Brittain during Linkin Park’s livestream performance on Thursday.

“I am so proud of everything we continue to create together,” Delson said to continue his statement. “While I will not be performing on tour in this new chapter, I am super excited to introduce Alex—my handsome deputy on the road. Alex is a world-class musician, a kind and thoughtful friend, and we are truly fortunate he’ll be contributing his unique talent to our LP universe.

Linkin Park’s new live lineup, featuring Armstrong, Brittain, and Feder alongside original members Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn, and Dave Farrell, will play six arena shows across the globe in the lead up to their new album, From Zero , which is set for release on November 15th. The band plans to embark on a more extensive tour in 2025.

Linkin Park’s comeback hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Following news of Armstrong’s involvement, The Mars Volta’s Cedric Bixler-Zavala and his wife, Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, called attention to her alleged support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson and her ties to Scientology. In a statement released late Friday night, Armstrong said, “I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes.”
