Proving the bigger isn’t always better, a popular restaurant is planning to downsize its Conshohocken location. Outback Steakhouse is hoping to demolish its current Plymouth Meeting home and to build back smaller but better than ever, reports local media outlet More Than the Curve .

Outback Steakhouse owner Bloomin Brands has sought and attained approval from the Plymouth Township Planning Commission to tear down and rebuild the restaurant at 322 Ridge Pike. However, this is only the opening salvo in the brand’s mission to downsize the location; the township’s council still needs to sign-off on the plans.

The concept, famous for bringing the taste of Australia to the States, is rolling out the newer, smaller model across the country. The Conshohocken Outback will reduce in size by about seven percent. It’s current location is 6,799 square feet and, if approved, the new building will occupy 5,035 square feet. The change will allow the brand to increase its attention to various delivery channels, while still welcoming around 187 guests in its dining room.

An opening timeline is not currently available, however it is unlikely the restaurant will open before mid-to-late 2025. The plans still require approval from the township council before demolition can begin on the standing restaurant. Only then can construction begin on the new model.
