CONWAY, Ark. – It’s been a tough couple of days for many people and businesses in Conway after severe flooding filled up lots and driveways all around town.

Several cars were flooded at the Conway Auto Sales car dealership on Oak Street and that water actually made it’s way into the office leading to several pieces of paperwork and contracts to be damaged.

Owner Daryl Coran is tasked with changing the oil, and filters in all the cars.

“Maybe the electrical is messed up,” he said, adding to the list of things that may be damaged.

He said “the water went all the way up above the motors” of the cars.

Coran said where his dealership is located suffers from major flooding “at least once or twice” every year but this is the worst he’s seen.

He says “it takes about five minutes” for the dealership lot to fill up with water when it floods.

A day after the flood, Coran said customers continue to file in but “we have to turn them away because we don’t know what’s going on with the vehicles yet.”

With past floods, he says the dealership lot wasn’t as full of cars so the financial burden wasn’t as bad compared to what this one will cost.

He said the last flood cost “probably $8,000” to repair.

Coran says it will take about two weeks before he knows exactly how much it will cost to repair all the damaged cars on the lot, but he is positive that it will cost him well over $8,000.
