CONWAY, Ark. – Ukrainian Kateryna Pitchford spoke at the Rotary Club of Conway on Thursday, discussing the club’s efforts to support Ukraine.

As the war between Ukraine and Russia has raged on for more than two years, Pitchford finds ways to help out in the war through the Rotary Club she first joined in 2007, three years after moving to the United States.

Now, she helps raise money for supplies that Ukrainian shelters can offer to their refugees.

“They would need flashlights, generators, more washing machines and dryers because they had up to 100 people coming every three days,” Pitchford said.

Pitchford said that through the Rotary Club, she can serve her new home country while also connecting with the country she moved from 20 years ago.

She also said it breaks her heart to think about what her life would be like if she didn’t make the decision to move.

When it comes to the future plan of the Rotary Club, Pitchford said she looks forward to helping the youth in Ukraine as many have lost their parents or have been displaced.
