Horry County Planning commission hears rezoning pitches in workshop

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Rezoning requests on the Horry County Planning Commission’s workshop agenda included a proposed Meals on Wheels facility.

County officials listened to each applicant who took the stand to pitch their rezoning requests. Almost every rezoning request was to change acres of commercial property to residential.

Applicant G-3 Engineering requested to rezone about 22 acres of land from Commercial Forest Agriculture and Forest Agriculture to Commercial Agriculture.

If approved, it’ll be located on Adrian Parkway and Highway 701 N. in Conway.

During Thursday’s workshop, county officials looked at an aerial, wetlands, flood, and public notice map.

“Future land use says location is rural and scenic in conservation. The site is currently vacant and there’s a portion that they’re proposing to sub divide out,” Horry County Administrative Assistant for Planning and Zoning Grayson Hardee said. “The wetland delineation is about eight acres and it’s not within the flood zone.”

County officials said each rezoning request will be discussed in more detail at the meeting next Thursday.
