Gluesenkamp Perez Visits Lewis County Farms
Earlier this week, Southwest Washington’s Marie Gluesenkamp Perez joined the Lewis County Farm Bureau for their Tour of Agriculture to hear from local growers. The tour kicked off with a visit to the Southwest Washington Food Hub in Chehalis, where they discussed the hub’s work with farmers to strengthen economic development and food security in their community. After that, the group visited: Hop Frog Farm, a grower of microgreens in Onalaska; Raintree Nursery, which grows edible plants in Morton; and Pan-American Berry Growers in Mossyrock.

Northwest ironworkers reject a second employer offer
Ironworkers in Oregon and Washington will vote on a third employer offer after previously voting down a second employer offer in mail ballots counted July 31. In June, members voted down an offer that would have increased total compensation $7.50 an hour over three years. The second offer would have increased total compensation $15 an hour over four years. Now, members will vote on a third offer totaling $16 over four years.

These photos of T-Bone and his handler, Officer Tyler Hatcher, were taken at the National Night Out event August 6 at Storvik Park. Hatcher has been T-Bone’s handler since 2019. City Of Hoquiam To Buy Undeveloped Property
The City of Hoquiam will buy an 11 acre undeveloped property that’s northeast of downtown. In March, the city’s Revitalization Task Force recommended purchasing the land due to its development potential once the levee project is complete in 2027. The city voted to make the deal at this week’s council meeting. The Daily World says the city will pay $250,000 for the land that’s valued at $327,000 in what the property owner called part purchase, part donation.
