Homeowner’s grandson “intentionally” sets home on fire, neighbor detains him until police arrive
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators have determined that a house fire in Gwinnett County was “intentionally” set by the homeowner’s grandson. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a call from a neighbor about a fire on Iron Gate Court in Lawrenceville on Saturday night just before 9 p.m. The caller said smoke was coming from the outside of the home. The neighbor told authorities that the grandson of the homeowner tried to burn the house down. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a well-involved fire in the garage which appeared to have spread to the back of the home. All three adults inside the home made it out.
Former Douglas County judge files motion to have nightclub arrest charges dropped
ATLANTA - Former Douglas County Judge Christina Peterson is seeking to have charges stemming from her recent arrest in Fulton County dismissed. Peterson was booked into jail last month following an altercation with Atlanta police at a nightclub in Buckhead. She faces charges of simple battery and felony obstruction for allegedly punching an officer.
Cortez Smith commits to UGA football for 2025 class
Cortez Smith, a four-star offensive lineman from Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ga., has committed to UGA football for the class of 2025. Smith announced his commitment to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. Smith (6-3, 310) committed to the Bulldogs over Georgia Tech, Miami, and South Carolina.
