    Ingredients:

    • 1/4 cup water
    • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast or instant, rapid rise
    • 3/4 cup milk warm
    • 3/4 cup Greek yogurt or natural plain yogurt
    • 1/4 cup vegetable oil plus 2 tablespoons extra for cooking
    • 2 cloves garlic minced
    • 4 cups plain flour plus extra for dusting
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt

    GARLIC BUTTER TOPPING

    • 3 tablespoons butter melted
    • 2 cloves garlic minced
    • 1 teaspoon fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped

In a bowl, combine the water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. Stir in the milk, yogurt, oil, minced garlic, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until the dough starts to come together, then use your hands to finish combining it.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead with floured hands for about 3 to 5 minutes until smooth. Lightly grease the mixing bowl with cooking oil, then place the dough back in the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for around an hour until it doubles in size.

Once the dough has risen, divide it into 10 equal portions. Shape each piece into a ball and use a rolling pin to flatten each one into an oval shape, about 6 inches long and 1/8-inch thick.

Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with ½ teaspoon of oil or ghee. Place a piece of the rolled dough onto the hot skillet and cook until bubbles appear on the surface, about 1-2 minutes. Brush the top with a little oil as it cooks.

Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden spots appear on the bottom. Remove from the skillet and keep the naan wrapped in a clean kitchen towel. Repeat with the remaining dough, keeping each naan warm in the towel.

For the garlic butter topping, mix melted butter with minced garlic in a bowl. Brush each naan with the garlic butter and sprinkle with fresh herbs and a sprinkle of sea salt before serving and enjoy!
