    Friday the 13th Black Cat Cookies

    5 hours ago

    Yes, I know that it's not October yet, but it's Friday the 13th. For someone who loves Halloween, this is the perfect excuse to get those spooky Halloween holiday ideas flowing. I absolutely love these cookies. They are so easy and fun to make! Here's all you need to make about 20 cat cookies:

    Ingredients:

    • 1, 15 oz box chocolate cake mix
    • 1/3 cup butter, melted
    • 2 large eggs

    Some Options Decorate the Face:

    • M&M's (eyes or nose)
    • Skittles (eyes or nose)
    • Frosting (Any)
    • Black or red Twizzlers Pull and Peel (whiskers or noses)
    • Chocolate Chips (eyes or nose)
    • Candy Corn (eyes or noses)

    Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, eggs, and chocolate cake mix until well combined. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, form dough balls about 1 1/2 - 2 tablespoons in size and place them 2-3 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. Press down with your palm or the bottom of a glass or measuring cup to flatten somewhat. Then, pinch off a little bit more dough and shape in a triangle, and flatten a bit if necessary, for each of the ears. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the tops are set.

    Allow to cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Once cool, decorate cookies with frosting or candies of your choice to make a cat face. Get creative or simply eat plain and enjoy!

    * Notes:

    If your cake mix is 18 oz, increase the butter to 1/2 cup.

    You can also roll cookie dough in a bowl of sugar prior to baking to simulate fur.
