Cinnamon Sugar Apple Wedges with Whipped Caramel Dipping Sauce

This is the most perfect recipe for today! We love these sweet and tart apple wedges with whipped caramel dipping sauce. They are sweet, tart, and crispy. Feel free to amp up spices or skip the sugar coating and just make the dipping sauce. Any way you do it is just fine! This is what you'll need to make about 8 servings:

    Ingredients:

    For the Apples:

    • 4 to 5 apples*
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 cup flour
    • vegetable oil for frying
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/8 cup cinnamon
    • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice, optional

    For the Dip:

    • 8 ounces cream cheese
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 cup whipping cream
    • 1 cup caramel sauce store bought or homemade
    • White or chocolate chips, optional
    • Heath toffee bits, optional

In a frying pan or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil until hot for frying. Meanwhile, combine buttermilk and 1 cup sugar in a medium bowl. Peel and slice apples, adding them to the buttermilk mixture to prevent browning as you work.

Spread flour in a shallow dish. Remove apple slices from the buttermilk mixture one at a time, coating them lightly in the flour.

Carefully place the coated apples into the hot oil, ensuring they don’t touch. Once the bottoms are golden brown, flip to fry the other side. Remove the fried apples to a paper towel-lined tray to absorb excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with cinnamon, 1/2 cup sugar, and pumpkin pie spice, if using.

For the dip: Mix cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Then, add in the cold whipped cream and beat another 2-3 minutes or until it forms stiff peaks. Then stir in caramel sauce. Place the dip in a bowl and drizzle with extra caramel sauce, chocolate chips, and toffee bits for garnish. Enjoy with the warm apple slices!

    * Notes:

You can use any apple, but we like the tart ones, such as, Granny Smith or Pink Lady.
