    Fast, Easy, and Fun Monster Meatball Mummies

    2 days ago

    We love recipes that are easy, cheap and fun for Halloween, and this one definitely checks all those boxes. Plus, you can customize it in so many ways (mentioned below). Swap meatballs out for hot dogs or sausages and serve with your favorite dipping sauces and toppings. The recipe listed here makes 6 meatball mummies, so feel free to double this as desired:

    Ingredients:

    • 18 premade, frozen meatballs, thawed
    • 1, 11 oz. thin crust pizza crust, leave rolled up
    • 1 cup marinara sauce for dipping
    • bamboo skewers

    Thread three meatballs onto a bamboo skewer.
    Slice the roll of pizza dough into 1/4-inch strips, using three strips for each “mummy dog.”
    Unroll each strip and wrap it around the meatballs, leaving a small opening for the face and eyes.
    Place the wrapped meatballs on a baking sheet, then carefully remove the bamboo skewers.
    Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes, until the meatballs are heated through and the dough is golden brown.
    Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

    * Notes:

    You can also do this same concept with hot dogs if you'd prefer.

    Small pieces of string cheese or sliced olives can be used for eyes if desired.

    Crescent dough can also be used in place of the pizza dough.

    Half the hot dogs for smaller snack-sized appetizers or for the smaller kiddos.

    For a breakfast mummy, swap out for cooked sausage links and serve with syrup. You can use small pieces of strawberry or bluberries for the eyes if you wish.
