So many things to talk about for your weather!
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Not only are there many things going on with your weather here in north-central West Virginia over the next 7 days, but we also have so many events going on that we have so much to tell you! Let’s start with today that will feature high temperatures near records for many locations. With sunshine starting the day highs will quickly rise into the 90s, topping out in the middle 90s for most. It will get to 95 for Clarksburg with a record of 98 from 1948, rising to 91 in Elkins where the record is 92 from 1993, and to 94 in Morgantown where the record was set at 95 back in 1953. More weather to talk about after about 5:00pm this afternoon where showers and storms arrive north of US-50 with the possibility of severe storms that could bring strong winds and small hail to places like Marion, Monongalia, Preston, and Wetzel counties. These will gradually move east and south east losing intensity overnight. Locations south of US-33 may see no rain and likely no severe weather. Otherwise, humid and warm with clouds tonight. Thursday will have more showers and non-severe storms that will be most numerous in the afternoon and evening hours. Some sunshine should allow highs to reach about 90 degrees in the lowlands with upper 70s to lower 80s in the mountains. Friday is the first day of the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival in Clarksburg and most of the day will be dry. We are expecting scattered storms to erupt in the mountains later in the day with only isolated storms for the lowlands. High school football will begin this Friday evening and aside from mountain storms drying up after dark, we are thinking the rest of NCWV will be dry for the games. Also, Mountaineer football finally returns to Morgantown for the home opener against Penn State (let’s go Mountaineers!) at noon Saturday. However, look for off and on showers, maybe a thunderstorm mixed in throughout the day. Clouds and sun at times with highs in the middle 80s. Sunday is the final day of the WVIHF and aside from morning rain showers, clouds will break for sun with a dry afternoon and highs in the middle 80s. Labor Day will have a taste of fall with low humidity for early September. Highs only in the upper 70s despite lots of sunshine. Look for more of the same on Tuesday.

More than a year after legislation meant to address county jail bill costs went into effect, some county officials on Monday asked state lawmakers to do more to help lower their costs.
