In Commerce, it’s now a one-way street to Commerce High School and the new Commerce Middle School. Sregit Drive is now a one-way street, going north. The change was made in anticipation of much more traffic on Sregit Drive starting next month. Commerce Independent School District is opening a new middle school on Sregit, right next door to Commerce High School. Also, Commerce High School’s football team will play its home games on campus at a new stadium this year.

Paris Police Report For Thursday, July 18
Officers worked a disturbance in the 2200 block of Lamar Avenue. Officers arrived and made contact with Quintarrius Marshaw Dillard, 24, and the victim. The victim advised that Dillard had assaulted them by choking or strangulation with his hands. Officers observed supporting evidence to the victim’s claims and placed Dillard under arrest for assaulting a Family Member by Impeding Breath or Circulation, a Felony. Officers transported him without incident.

Man who drove bus to Longview gas station found dead after standoff
LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Longview police found a man dead inside a bus following a barricade situation Thursday morning. According to officials, the man barricaded inside the bus and was armed and refused to come out. Police arrived around 3:20 a.m. to address a bus parked at a CEFCO gas station on the 300 block of S. Eastman Road. The man in the barricaded bus eventually was found to have killed himself, police say.

A month into a hot Texas summer, Dallas-Fort Worth already has surpassed the number of poor air quality days reported in all of 2023. As of July 18, the region reported 17 days that ground-level ozone, or smog, exceeded levels considered healthy for all populations. In 2023, the area reported 13 ozone air quality alerts.
