Arlington and Pantego Ramp Up Mosquito Spraying Amid West Nile Virus Spike
The City of Arlington has initiated a targeted ground spraying program to combat a rising number of West Nile Virus cases following the confirmation of seven infected mosquito samples. These mosquito management efforts will selectively target specific locations across the city, aiming to sharply decrease the mosquito population carrying the virus. Scheduled to occur over two consecutive nights, the spraying is set for Tuesday and Wednesday, weather permitting, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., according to the City of Arlington, Texas.

Fort Worth’s Salvation Army shelter is a better place for families experiencing homelessness after a monthslong renovation, shelter and city leaders said Tuesday. The Salvation Army cut the ribbon on the improved facility on E. Lancaster Avenue Tuesday morning. Tarrant County has seen a spike in family homelessness over the past few years.

Allen Public Library to close beginning August 1 for expansion, renovation
The Allen Public Library will close to the public from Aug. 1 until mid-to-late September during the library's expansion and renovation project. During construction the library will set up a temporary operation at Rountree Elementary. Items that were checked out at the end of July will have an extended due date until the temporary location opens. Allen’s digital library will remain open at AllenLibrary.org/DigitalLibrary, and residents 18 and older can apply online for a 90-day digital-only card that offers access to the digital library.

The McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square is seeking community support in the 16th annual America's Farmers Market Celebration. Girl shot while riding in back seat of car on Fort Worth highway, police say
FORT WORTH, Texas — A girl was shot in the leg during a possible road rage incident in west Fort Worth early Wednesday, police said. The shooting happened in the 2800 block of Horne Street, near Camp Bowie Boulevard and Interstate 30, according to a police news release. Officers responded and found the girl who was wounded.
