DENTON, Texas — A City of Denton Jail employee has been arrested for official oppression following an investigation into misconduct involving an inmate. On July 17, 2024, an adult female victim reported that civilian jailer Miguel Mederos, 22, offered her a ride to her vehicle after she was released from the City of Denton Jail on January 2, 2023. The victim told detectives that Mederos made several sexual statements toward her during the car ride and later made sexual advances via text message that night.
