DEPUTIES JAIL MAN FOR ALLEGED STRANGULATION, HARASSMENT
Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man on the charges of strangulation and harassment, following an incident early Thursday. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 4:00 a.m. the 25-year-old allegedly initiated a physical altercation with the victim, by choking her and biting her. The incident took place in the 200 block of Berry Loop Lane in Green.

With hot days all week, visitors to the Jackson County Fair at The Expo in Central Point have been treated to comfortably warm temperatures at night. The fair saw 2,300 visitors Thursday, plus 5,200 people came to see Josh Turner in concert Thursday night. Total attendance for the fair, which started Tuesday, is more than 17,500, according to organizers. The fair continues through Sunday night. Coast Radio Sports – Viking Athlete moves up in school top 10 list of high jumpers
Kale Jensen has “leapt” into the Siuslaw High School record book. The incoming Viking Junior competed at a recent “all-comers” meet in Eugene. Competing in the high jump he cleared six feet, two inches, putting him into a 5-way tie for ninth place in that category. His mark is also the 2nd highest recorded in the 21st century for Siuslaw according to athletic director Chris Johnson. Bryce Siegel cleared six-four in 2007. The school record is held by Siuslaw Hall of Fame member and current building contractor Mike Roe. He jumped six feet ten inches in 1979. Roe’s mark is also the state record in the 4A classification.
