Jonesboro (Ga.) 2026 four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman has begun to solidify himself as one of the top defensive backs in the country, and the Miami Hurricanes are wasting no time making the coveted defender feel wanted in Coral Gables.

“My relationship with Miami is great,” Wyman told CaneSport. “I have a great bond with all the coaches, and they send me great mail, and I’m ready to get down there.”

After first visiting Miami in January for the Hurricanes’ Junior Day, Wyman is looking to make his return to Coral Gables on July 27. This time around, the 6-foot, 160-pounder is hoping to get an in-depth look at what the Canes have to offer on and off the field.

“More than likely, I will be down there on July 27th,” Wyman said. “I look forward to feeling the love over there now that they can really talk to us 2026 guys. Also getting to see more of the facility since I wasn’t really able to see much of it the first time.”

Wyman is high on the Hurricanes for many reasons, one of which is his faith in Miami’s coaching staff. From Canes head coach Mario Cristobal to cornerbacks coach Chevis Jackson , Wyman believes Miami’s staff is one of the best in the country.

“It’s a good program, and their coaches are great,” Wyman said. “Those are coaches that I can see myself playing for in the future. It’s a great program because coach Cristobal is doing a good job over there, and he’s bringing in some good players.”

Along with the Hurricanes, Wyman, who is the No. 93 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Rankings, is also high on Oregon, Georgia, Indiana, and Texas A&M early in his recruiting process. As a sophomore, Wyman racked up 37 tackles, 12 pass deflections and five interceptions.

When looking at a program, Wyman explained that he not only focuses on the now, but also on what the future will look like after his playing days are over.

“Really, if I could stay there after football is over with,” Wyman said. “A place where I can call home and somewhere I can see my kids growing up.”

    CaneSport’s take

The Hurricanes are wasting no time in the 2026 class, and Wyman looks like one of the top defensive backs on their recruiting board for next year’s recruiting cycle.
