While attention may be focused on the 2025 class following a busy month of June with plenty of official visits, the Miami Hurricanes aren’t neglecting the 2026 class and are in the mix for one of the best two-way athletes in that class.

Since June 15, the Canes have been in consistent contact with Buford (Ga.) 2026 four-star athlete Tyriq Green , who has been impressed with Miami’s recruiting efforts early on.

“We’re building a good relationship,” Green told CaneSport. “We’ve got a group chat with all the coaches, and we talk through there. It made me feel good about Miami, and it gave me more confidence. I am just blessed to be in this position.”

Green, who is the No. 180 prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, is no stranger to Coral Gables after visiting Miami in January for the Canes’ Junior Day. While his time on campus may have been short, Green enjoyed seeing a small glimpse of what the Hurricanes had to offer.

“It was really good seeing campus,” Green said. “They told us about the school, and we learned a lot.”

Green’s interest in Miami was piqued after learning about what the Hurricanes have to offer on the field and in the classroom. Although nothing is set in stone yet, Green is eyeing a return trip to South Florida.

As a sophomore he rushed for 769 yards and 10 touchdowns while grabbing two interceptions, and he is being recruited as a defensive back by the Hurricanes.

“It’s a good program,” Green said of UM. “When I was there they talked a lot about academics and the college itself, so that was really good.”

The 5-foot-10.5, 190-pounder has a handful of schools he is high on early in his recruitment: Miami, Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, LSU, Oregon and Texas A&M.

“I really look at development,” Green said. “And then a program that just doesn’t focus on football, but also life after football.

    CaneSport’s take

Green is one of the top talents coming out of Georgia in the 2026 class, and Miami is making it known that he is wanted in Coral Gables. With Green still working on his July visit schedule, if the Hurricanes are able to get him on campus it will be a telling sign of where things really stand.
