After a spring visit to Miami, Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School four-star safety/LB Simeon Caldwell is looking to potentially get back down to Coral Gables later this summer.

The Hurricanes have made the 2026 prospect feel wanted, which has Miami right in the thick of things in his recruitment.

“When I went there for a spring practice, there were a lot of recruits there on a visit, and they still made me feel like a priority,” Caldwell told CaneSport. “They had over 30 recruits, and I still felt like a top priority, so that was very special to me and grew our relationship that I have with them.”

Although listed as a safety, Miami linebackers coach Derek Nicholson is leading the Canes push for Caldwell, who is the No. 68 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

“Miami has a really good history of producing defensive backs,” Caldwell said. “The defensive history that they have there is something I want to be part of and have a legacy there.”

On June 15, Nicholson was one of the first coaches in the country to reach out to the 6-foot-3, 185-pounder, which resonated with Caldwell.

“Coach Nicholson called me at 12:05 (a.m.) on June 15 as soon as they were able to contact 2026 guys,” Caldwell said.“The relationship is great, and I definitely have to get back down there, hopefully this summer or for a game in the fall. I definitely have to go back and see Miami because it’s a great school.”

With programs across the country vying for Caldwell’s services, his message to the in-state defender is simple.

“He (Nicholson) tells me the best in Florida stay in Florida,” Caldwell explained. “That’s really his message to me.”

    CaneSport’s take

Caldwell is eyeing a return visit to Miami later this month, which is a great sign for the Hurricanes. The versatile defender is being recruited to play linebacker by the Canes staff, which is something he is open to. During his sophomore season, Caldwell totaled 137 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three interceptions.
