Miami Hurricanes legacy four-star IOL Grant Wise high on the program early: “It would be pretty cool to follow in my dad’s footsteps”

Milton (Fla.) Pace four-star IOL Grant Wise , the son of former Miami offensive lineman Ty Wise , has established himself as one of the top linemen in the 2026 class, and several programs across the country including the Hurricanes are chasing his services.

“The Hurricanes are special to me because I grew up a Miami fan because my dad played there and I watched all the games,” Wise told CaneSport, adding “that won’t be a factor in my decision, and I will have all the schools on a fair level.”

Although the 6-foot-3, 300-pounder says all the teams recruiting him will be on a level playing field throughout his process, the idea of following in his father’s footsteps is something he would love to do.

“It would be pretty cool to follow in my dad’s footsteps, I’m not going to lie,” Wise said.

Among the programs recruiting Wise, he says Miami, Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan, Florida State, Florida, Ohio State and Tennessee are among the programs that have reached out to him the most since June 15, which was the first day schools could contact 2026 recruits.

“The process has been great being able to see new places and build relationships with all these coaches,” Wise said.

Wise, who is the No. 189 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking , says he has built a strong relationship with Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal, whom he named as his primary recruiter.

“His message to me is to continue the legacy,” Wise said. “Continue the legacy of my family, but also the legacy of great center play at the University of Miami.”

Wise, like many recruits in the country, believes the Hurricanes are in store for a big season this upcoming fall.

“If you look at where coach Cristobal was before at Oregon, they were a great powerhouse team,” Wise said. “I think he has the ability to put Miami where it used to be.”

With his recruitment beginning to take shape and schools emerging, Wise also discussed what he’ll be looking for in a future program.

“I like to look at the culture of a program and what they’ve hold to be their standards,” Wise said. “Then I like to look at how they treat their players, the coaching, and the coaching history. Have they put people in the league and the locker room, and how would I fit in there? Those are the main things.”

Wise is another prospect the Hurricanes are very high on early in the 2026 recruiting process. The rising junior has a host of major programs in the mix early and is hoping to get back on campus in Coral Gables soon, which could bode well for the Canes.
