Hurricanes land four-star defensive back Jaboree Antoine

The Hurricanes missed out on five-star defensive back D.J. Pickett earlier this week when the touted prospect chose LSU over UM.

Miami got the better of LSU on Saturday, though, securing a commitment from four-star defensive back Jaboree Antoine. Antoine announced his commitment through On3’s YouTube channel.

“rEALLY IT came down to a late decision, really,” Antoine said. “I just had a lot of questions I had to get answered. It came down to really yesterday. … (Miami) was unmatchable, really.”

Antoine said he informed Mario Cristobal and the UM staff Friday that he would take his talents to Coral Gables.

“Everybody on the staff was excited, really,” Antoine said. “I’m ready to get out there right now.”

Antoine, who had nearly two dozen scholarship offers, is listed as the No. 8 cornerback and No. 71 player in the class, according to 247Sports’ composite ranking.

Although he had previously pledged to the Tigers, Antoine backed off that commitment in June after taking official visits to Miami and Florida State. However, he kept considering LSU until making his decision on Saturday.

Antoine, a standout for Westgate High in New Iberia, Louisiana, played in just five games last year due to injury, according to 247Sports. In his sophomore year, he played both quarterback and cornerback, making 32 tackles with 11 pass breakups and five interceptions.

Antoine, who is listed at 6-1 and 170 pounds, is the fourth cornerback in Miami’s 2025 class, joining four-star Chris Ewald Jr. and Amari Wallace and three-star Timothy Merritt.

“You’re getting a leader on and off the field,” Antoine said. “You’re getting a corner that can take away one side of the field, and we’re going to try to win a (national championship).”
