A 63 year old is competing at Miss Florida USA pageant. Meet this West Kendall queen

Karen Russo, 63, is rocking her senior status.

When the West Kendall resident walks the stage at the Miss Florida USA pageant this weekend, she will make history as the oldest participant.

This year marks the first time the competition – which selects the representative for the state of Florida for the Miss USA title – has no age restrictions .

This means you no longer have to be 28 and under to compete. The 72-year-old competition also lifted the ban on married women and mothers.

Russo, who has more than 7,000 followers on TikTok, is often seen dancing in her videos to hits from the 1970s. with the hashtags #boomerqueen, #classof1979 and #Wehadthebestmusic.

Yep, she’s definitely living the dream.

“Miss Florida USA has answered my teenage wish,” said the New Jersey native. “I want to be that bright positive light on stage that shines for women ages 40 and up.”

Russo looks like there is a portrait of her melting out there somewhere. So, what’s the secret?

“Laughter and self-discipline,” says Russo, who works in sales, adding she works out about 10 minutes every morning and eats a healthy balance of protein, fats and carbs.

“I have never had one ounce.”
