Randy Friedman, who recently retired after 29 years with the Youth Softball Association of Coral Springs (YSACS), was league president, coach of the CS Panthers 8U team, and an umpire at city tournaments.

“Randy has dedicated countless volunteer hours over the years to the YSACS League. Everyone that visited or played at Cypress Park knew who Randy was,” Coral Springs resident Jennifer Brown wrote in an application to the committee seeking to rename the field.

Brown, whose children grew up going to Cypress Park at 1301 Coral Springs Drive, considered Friedman a mentor and a great resource of softball knowledge.

Although Friedman is now retired, Brown wrote: “Cypress Park and YSACS were Randy’s extended softball family and always will be!”
