PITTSBURGH — After a breather of the weekend, humidity and shower chances are ticking back up with the start of the new week. Spots along and south of I-70 could catch a shower or two this morning. A better shower chance arrives this afternoon with pockets of heavier rain and thunder, especially east of Pittsburgh. This is an Impact Day given the timing of these downpours.
Pennsylvania’s Historic Tax Credit Increased to $20 Million
On July 11, the Pennsylvania General Assembly passed its 2024-2025 budget. It was 11 days past the deadline, but offered some good news for historic preservationists and adaptive reuse developers. The new budget included tax code changes that raised the historic tax credit program to $20 million from its previous cap of $5 million.

Pennsylvania House Leader Wants Trump Shooting Investigated
A Pennsylvania Republican leader thinks the shooting at a Trump rally should be looked into. Pennsylvania House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler is introducing legislation to look into the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, in Butler. House Resolution 501 would form a House Select Committee to investigate the actions and response of state and local law enforcement following the assassination attempt. The bipartisan committee would then produce a report on the incident no later than November 30th. Cutler says the committee will not be looking to assign blame, but rather it seeks to discover how law enforcement can better improve practices going forward.
