Dr. Carrie “Tut” Hamilton started her business Another Tut Production in 1989 to combine her love for creating productions, modeling, and acting. Tut received her Bachelors in Mass Communications (Radio-TV-Film), Masters in Counseling/Psychology, and her Doctorate in Education in Higher Education Leadership all from Clark Atlanta University. Raised by her father Nick Hamilton, better known as “Big Daddy”, her father was a huge influence on her love of fashion and encouraged her in everything she did and does.

In 2006 she changed her focus on seniors, and wanted to start something in honor of her father. She then created Seniors On The Runway, which is not your regular fashion show. This is a production that is known as runway theatre created for seniors that are 50+. It is a way to glamorize aging and give seniors the ability to be in the spotlight. Another TUT Production (ATP) is the parent company to several platforms.  Seniors On The Runway is a platform that was added to the ATP roster in 2006.  It can be viewed as a runway theatre production as we put the runway on a theatre stage to bring the fashions to life through fashion storytelling.

Seniors On The Runway is in eight cities:  Albany, Atlanta, Augusta, Birmingham, Columbus, Jacksonville, Macon, and Savannah.  The platform will be expanding to 20 cities in 2026 to include Cordele, Ft. Valley, LaGrange, Tifton, and other southern cities.

The process of the event starts with a model search and auditions in the different cities. Approximately a week later those who have auditions will receive a determination letter, after deliberation of the judges. Approximately a month later training will start for the seniors to learn how to strut and walk down a runway. The training will happen in the city of the model search, and last about 5 days over a span of a few weeks. They will hen prepare for the show. In total the process is about 2 months long.

    Requirements:

    • Must be 50 years of age or older.
    • Must bring I.D.
    • Must wear all black.
    • There is a small fee of $100 that is for registration, audition, and application process.

For the event they partner up with local technical colleges cosmetology students to glamour the models. As well, they work with local boutiques and shops to for outfits and clothing for them to wear, along with other outfits they supply from outside businesses such as Dillards and Kato.

This is a great experience for senior citizens across Georgia to be showcased, put in the spotlight, and have fun. Tut says, “seniors are people to, and it is for a great cause.”

If you or someone you may know is interested in taking part in this event in Cordele, model search and audtions are on August 9, 2024 at Blackshear Place Center at 1001 Blackshear Rd. Cordele, GA 31015. Participants must be 50+, wear all black and bring cash or check for the $100 fee. Registration is open until the day of auditions.
