Online tool aims to predict future invasive pests
A new online tool that aims to predict future invasive insects has been developed with the help of an assistant professor of forest entomology at the University of Maine. Angela Mech helped lead a group across the U.S. who spent the past seven years creating the i-Tree Pest Predictor. She said it uses data about tree and insect traits and how they interact to help identify future problematic invasive insects.

This will bring us plenty of clouds and the chance for some scattered showers and possibly a few thunderstorms this morning. As the front moves to our east... winds will shift out of the west/northwest and usher drier air into the region which will result in humidity dropping as the day progresses. Mostly cloudy skies this morning will become a mix of sun and clouds by late morning into the afternoon. There’s still a chance of a few isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon especially Downeast. Temperatures today will top off in the upper 70s to mid-80s. Skies will be mostly clear tonight.
