    2 Grant County firefighters charged after church catches fire

    GRANT COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Two firefighters are facing arson charges in connection with a Grant County church fire.

    According to an arrest citation, around 6 a.m. on Monday, authorities were called to a fire at Shiloh Full Gospel Church in Corinth. After firefighters arrived Kentucky State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were requested to join the investigation.

    The citation said the investigation suggested 24-year-old Brendan Gibson and 23-year-old Robert Hughes intentionally set fire to the church.

    The citation said Hughes was one of the first Corinth firefighters to arrive at the scene.

    Hughes allegedly confessed to his actions which resulted in the fire.

    Gibson and Hughes are both charged with second-degree arson. The two firefighters are being held in the Grant County Detention Center on $10,000 bonds.
