The Scottsbluff Public School Administration has presented a series of budget scenarios at a recent workshop. This was in response to the School Board's request for a budget review. The review is mainly due to the passing of two important bills in the Nebraska legislature, and other factors. Another reason for this review is the proposed reincrease in special education spending, which is required by the new laws.
Superintendent Dr. Andrew Dick explained the reasons for the budget reconsideration. These include the ending of certain projects and grants, such as the elementary school modernization and school climate transformation program. Despite this, the board stressed that no decisions would be made in the workshop. Instead, a public hearing on the proposed budget and tax rate has been scheduled for 11 September. Public participation is highly encouraged.
