More than 320 Corning-Painted Post High School students celebrated their accomplishments, received diplomas and took in words of wisdom Wednesday night from their commencement speakers.
“There is so much to be proud of and so much to celebrate,” C-PP School Superintendent Michelle Caulfield said at the commencement. “Some of the Class of 2024 accomplishments are displayed in the commencement attire today with cords, sashes and medallions. To the Class of 2024, we are incredibly proud of you.”
Caulfield said she remembers the Class of 2024’s first day of ninth grade, when students were challenged to be part of something that is bigger than themselves and to leave a mark, and that challenge was met over the ensuing years.
The Class of 2024 also had the distinction of being the school's 10th graduating class since the merger, marking the first decade of Corning-Painted Post.
The 10th annual Corning-Painted Post High School Graduation started at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the C-PP Fieldhouse.
After the opening procession of 321 students, Class of 2024 President Sofia Scouten, Salutatorian Alex Peng and Valedictorian Dorothy Piech each gave remarks before the seniors started lining up to receive their diplomas.
Piech described how she loves learning, thinking and understanding, but it doesn’t come easy and doesn’t always make her happy, but she is happy to see all of her hard work pay off in the end.
