CORNING, N.Y. ( WETM ) — The Fund for Women (FFW) of the Southern Tier is holding a workshop to help local non-profits that support women and girls apply for its $150,000 grant.

The FFW is looking to help one local non-profit organization fund programming that addresses unmet or underserved needs of women and girls in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, and Yates counties through the FFW Empower Grant. This grant will award the organization $50,000 every year for three years to support programs related to education, health and wellness, and/or emergency/self-sufficiency needs.

“We envision this partnership with one area non-profit to support a specialized program, fund a new program, or enhance an existing program,” said Jeanne Estep, chair of the FFW Grants Committee and Board.

Southern Tier organizations that are interested in learning more about the FFW Empower Grant or that would like to apply are invited to a one-hour-long workshop at noon on Monday, July 8. The workshop will be held at the Three Rivers Development Conference Room, located at 19 West Market St. in Corning, and people have the option of attending in person or over Zoom.

Those interested in attending the workshop need to email fund4women@gmail.com by July 3 and specify whether they’d prefer to attend in person or virtually. Grant applications are due by Sept. 6, and organizations that can’t attend the workshop can email FFW for an application and to learn how to apply.

The Fund for Women of the Southern Tier was established in 2009 to help girls and women achieve economic self-sufficiency and meet life goals. The organization does this through grants that focus on education, health, wellness, career skills, and life skills. More than 100 communities across the United States have established Funds for Women.
