CORNING, N.Y. ( WETM ) — New signs can be seen on Corning’s soon-to-be Pizza Hut as construction is nearly complete in the Crystal City.

According to an official with Allegany Pizza LLC, the new Pizza Hut on East Pulteney Street is nearly complete after 18 News got word the pizza chain was returning to Corning in October of 2023.

Allegany Pizza LLC , the new franchise owner, told 18 News on Thursday, July 18, that the restaurant is expected to have its grand opening in August.

What’s the status of the Corning Pizza Hut?

Original plans for the restaurant were to open in early 2024, but things were put on hold when architectural plans needed to be revised to fit the city’s building codes.

Once the new plans were turned in and approved, work continued on the restaurant, with the finishing touches being completed.

Workers were seen at the site on Thursday going in and out of the building, as the structure now has a more modern look.

Allegany Pizza told 18 News that they plan on hiring 40 employees and will hold a soft opening next month along with the grand opening later in August, but no set date was announced.

Pizza Hut in Corning is returning after several years since shutting down in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
