Corning Salvation Army to host Christmas in July fundraiser

CORNING, N.Y. ( WETM ) – The Salvation Army of Corning is continuing to celebrate its 140th anniversary by hosting several events this summer to benefit programs and services in the Corning community.

During the month of July, The Salvation Army will host a “Fill ‘Er Up” Red Kettle Christmas in July fundraiser and a Christmas in July celebration on Wednesday, July 24.

From now until Monday, July 29, Red Kettles will be out at local businesses including Bottles & Corks, Butcher’s Son, Connors Mercantile and more to support The Salvation Army’s local programs and services. So far this year, The Salvation Army of Corning has provided more than 2,500 meals to people and families through its weekly Food Pantry and Shepherd’s Table. The organization also provides daily emergency assistance, as well as Christmas and toy assistance programs and daily youth programs.

“Donations to The Salvation Army of Corning will stay in our community and will help us to continue our vital programs and services throughout the year to help those most in need,”  said Major Anita Stewart of The Salvation Army of Corning.
