CORNING, N.Y. ( WETM ) — More than 100 Corelle employees are temporarily without jobs after an issue at a manufacturing plant.

According to a representative from United Steel Workers Local 1034, a tank that holds molten glass at the Corelle Brands plant in Corning failed on Saturday, July 20. The plant does have two molten glass tanks, but the other tank is being refurbished and is also out of service at this time.

Around 150 employees who work at the plant were temporarily laid off after the tank failure, according to the union. The employees are expected to be out of work for about three or four weeks while the tank is being repaired.

The Corelle plant is owned by Corelle Brands, formerly Instant Brands, and employs about 350 people.
