NCCU student crowned Miss North Carolina
North Carolina Central University sophomore Carrie Everett was crowned the 2024 Miss North Carolina on Saturday night at High Point Theatre. Everett, who is also Miss Johnston County, will represent the state at the upcoming Miss America pageant. Fuel tanker catches fire in Virginia Beach
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — No one was hurt after a fuel tanker caught fire and leaked fuel in Virginia Beach on Monday. The Virginia Beach Fire Department said it happened in the 3500 block of Cellar Door Way, near Dam Neck Road. A fuel tanker truck caught fire, and its fuel tank ruptured in the process. Hazmat crews were able to stop the leak, and the remaining diesel and gasoline were safely transferred to other trucks that were standing by.
