    Beeville's Rivas voted Driscoll Children's Hospital High School Athlete of the Week

    Beeville track & field athlete Brian Rivas Jr. has been voted the Driscoll Children's Hospital Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week for April 15-20.

    Rivas was the district and area champ in the 400 and as part of the Trojans mile relay. Rivas finished fourth at the Region IV-4A meet in boys 400 and helped the Trojans 1,600 relay finish sixth.

    Rivas received 18,445 of the 43,260 votes cast, which was 42.6% of total votes.

    Kingsville boys track & field athlete Jasiah Rivera was second with 15,339 votes.

    Students can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.

    Nominations are due each Monday by 5 p.m. and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com, by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on Twitter @CallerSports.

    Please include statistics from the week's games and any pertinent information or honors.

    Voting runs Tuesday through Thursday each week.
