After his dominant pitching performance pushed Calallen to a Game 1 win against powerhouse Sinton, Calallen pitcher Coll Carroll has been voted the Driscoll Children's Hospital Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week for Aug. 21-26.

Carroll limited the potent Sinton lineup with six-plus innings with eight strikeouts, allowing two runs on three hits in the Wildcats Game 1 win.

Carroll received 13,786 of the 32,562 votes cast, which was 42.3% of total votes.

Alice baseball player Landon Rodriguez was second with 9,484 votes.

Students can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.

Nominations are due each Monday by 5 p.m. and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com, by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on Twitter @CallerSports.

Please include statistics from the week's games and any pertinent information or honors.

Voting runs Tuesday through Thursday each week.
