What to know for the 2024 season

Flour Bluff is back in Class 5A Division I, where they were regularly regional finalists. Longtime defensive coordinator Clynt Elwood begins his first season as head coach following Chris Steinbruck being named FBISD superintendent. The Hornets offense features two of the best playmakers in the area in senior QB Jayden Paluseo and senior WR/DB Cameran Dickson, a Vanderbilt commit. Elwood has high expectations for Wilson and Jones on defense as Flour Bluff folds in an entirely new group of district foes. The regular season is capped with the return of the Yorktown Showdown pitting Bluff against rival Veterans Memorial, a game that could have district title implications.

Coach Clynt Elwood on the 2024 season

"The tradition and expectations have already been set. Our guys, from our players to coaches and staff come in with a sense of urgency. Experience is a giant word with these guys. The seniors use their experience to help out the younger guys. They know the expecations since some have been varsity since they were freshmen. The seniors have set the bar even higher. The new district doesn't change anything at all. We respect everybody we play. Every Friday night game feels like we are playing for a district championship. We try to work twice as hard as everybody else."
