What to know for the 2024 season

The Buccaneers are loaded with three- and four-year starters and have sky high expectations after moving to Class 5A Division II. Trevor Long and Broderick Taylor return after record-breaking seasons that helped the Bucs advance to the regional final. The Bucs defense features playmakers in its own right in Richardson, Cullum, Cavaness and Stafford. The team has drawn motivation from its playoff loss to Brownsville Veterans Memorial, which saw the Chargers rally to upend the Bucs in the fourth quarter. The Bucs have a challenging non-district slate which includes Veterans Memorial, Cuero, Seguin and Class 6A No. 1 ranked DeSoto.

Coach Justen Evans on the 2024 season

"These guys have played on varsity and been in our system for three and four years. They've played a lot of football games. You expect to be at a certain point, but expectations don't mean anything if you don't come out here and produce. We are excited. The kids have put in the work, but now the work has to meet the field. In order to be better, we have to focus on the little things. We need the attention to detail and our schedule is going to fix that. There are no freebies. We have to stay focus and make sure we get better every day."
