    Where to get free health services July 22-27

    Free health and wellness services will be available for Nueces County residents July 22-27 through Operation Health and Wellness.

    The county's annual health fair is open to the public, featuring eye exams, vaccines, diabetes screening and more, as well as free vaccinations for cats and dogs.

    The pop-up clinics will run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27.

    The event has three locations.

    At Mission of Mercy, located at 2421 Ayers St. in Corpus Christi, only optometry services will be available. This includes eye exams and free reading glasses, as well as vouchers for single vision and bifocals while supplies last.

    At West Oso Junior High School, located at 5202 Bear Lane in Corpus Christi, attendees can receive general medical services, vaccines, diabetes screenings, behavioral health services, back-to-school physicals and women's exams. There will be a pharmacy on site.

    At Calderon Nueces County Center, located at 710 E. Main Ave. in Robstown, attendees can receive general medical services, vaccines, diabetes screening, behavioral health services, back-to-school physicals and women's exams. There will be a pharmacy on site.

    Animal services will also be available at West Oso Junior High School and Calderon Nueces County Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 22-27. No appointment is necessary. Services available include rabies vaccines, DA2PP vaccines for dogs, HCP vaccines for cats and microchipping.

    A limited number of spay and neuter vouchers will also be available. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a carrier.

    The health and wellness fair is organized with the cooperation of numerous community agencies, including Amistad Health, the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority, the Corpus Christi Nueces County Public Health District, Driscoll Health Plan, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Mission of Mercy, Nueces County Hospital District, Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities, South Coastal AHEC, South Texas Family Planning, Texas A&M University Colonias Program, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Texas A&M University Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, the Voices of the Colonias, Texas A&M Coastal Bend Health Education Center, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and West Oso ISD.
