The Caller-Times continues its preview of the 2024 high school football season with a summer series looking at the best players across the Corpus Christi area.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to kickoff in Week 1, we will highlight some of the best players in various positions, continuing with five offensive linemen to watch.

Here are the players listed in alphabetical order:

    Brady Buchanan, sr., Calallen

Buchanan is now the veteran presence on the Calallen front as a three-year starter. The Co-Most Valuable Offensive Lineman for District 16-4A Division I was an All-South Texas pick as a junior and will pave the way for the Wildcats offense.

    Devin Cage, sr., Miller

Cage is part of a talented, experienced senior class at Miller loaded with playmakers. Cage was the Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year in District 14-5A Division I after 71 pancake blocks and not allowing a sack in 14 games.

    Clay Mitchell, jr., Sinton

The sizable Mitchell (6-foot-4) was named the District 15-4A Division II offensive lineman of the year and did not allow a sack in 2023, allowing the potent Sinton offense to go, paving the way for 1,800-yard running back Derek Garcia.

    Joaquin Montes, sr., Veterans Memorial

In a season where the Eagles will overhaul much of their skill-position roster, Montes will be the keystone, moving into his third season as a starter at left tackle. Veterans Memorial will count on his leadership as new faces cut their teeth.

    Payton Rowland, sr., Flour Bluff

Rowland, the Hornets left tackle, will be one of several three-year starters for the program that is among the favorites, not only in District 15-5A Division I, but in Region IV. Rowland will be a key piece for one of the area's most explosive passing games protecting quarterback Jayden Paluseo.

Five more to watch: James Bahn, jr., Orange Grove; Justin Flores, sr., Beeville; Jose Garcia, sr., Moody; Julian Garcia, sr., Ingleside; Tyler Bergman, sr., Gregory-Portland
