A Corpus Christi ISD school employee who commented on social media about the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump is no longer employed at the district.

Last Tuesday, CCISD shared a statement on social media acknowledging it was aware of the comment and to "assure the community that the district is actively investigating."

CCISD did not share the identity of the employee or the exact contents of the comment, but screenshots did circulate elsewhere online of a comment from an individual's social media account saying, "Sorry President Biden!!! We are just so sad they missed the shot! Good people die everyday that have made a difference in peoples lives. This Coward deserves all the bad that is coming his way!!! I pray that the next one is successful!"

The assassination attempt occurred at a campaign rally Saturday, July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania when a shooter who was killed by Secret Service agents fired shots toward the stage where Trump was speaking. The former president sustained a gunshot wound to his right ear. At least one attendee was killed and two more injured.

President Joe Biden condemned the shooting in a statement July 13, stating "There's no place for this kind of violence in America."

Corpus Christi ISD's statement says the district condemns violence of any kind.

"Such comments in no way reflect the values of our school district," the district's statement in response to the employee comment read.

District spokesperson Leanne Libby confirmed in an email Thursday that though the district cannot share the details of personnel matters, the employee is "no longer with the district."

Libby did not specify the specifics of the employee's departure.

Corpus Christi ISD is not the only organization across the country to consider social media comments made by individuals after the attempt on Trump's life.

According to a USA Today article , social media posts have ended in firings and resignations in many cases.
