Bernalillo County – The City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department and the Bernalillo County Health Protection Section are anticipating a significant increase in mosquito activity that will likely persist through the summer after recent heavy rainfall. Mosquitoes breed in standing water and can go from egg to adult in as little as 7 days. The joint City-County mosquito control program has recommendations for residents to help reduce breeding and prevent bites in anticipation of very high mosquito populations.
New Mexico Mobile Newsroom: Debris Removal Available for Fire, Flood Impacted Residents
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) now offers full-service debris removal at no cost to private property owners. Any resident who was impacted by the South Fork fire, Salt fire, or flooding in Lincoln County is eligible for this program. If residents receive funding from their insurance companies for debris removal, they will be required to notify the State.

Resident, Lisa Molina said she has lived in her home for over two years since moving from Maine and the amount of rain and hail she saw for what lasted about ten minutes was something she has never been before.
Firefighters help respond to flooding in area impacted by South Fork and Salt fires
On Monday, Fire crews focused on helping local officials and residents with sandbag operations and other flood mitigation efforts, according to a release from the Southwest Area Incident Management Team 5. Officials said in an update Tuesday morning that support crews filled 18,000 sandbags and assessed over 4,000 structures across the area impacted by the South Fork and Salt Fires.
Clovis man sentenced to prison for assaulting police officer
40-year-old Carlos Lopez of Clovis was sentenced to eleven years in the Department of Corrections after a Curry County Jury found him guilty of Battery on a Police Officer, according to a press release from the Ninth Judicial District Attorney's Office.
Ruidoso ravaged by flash flooding
Just weeks after two historic wildfires consumed parts of the village of Ruidoso along with the Mescalero Reservation, combined with immediate flooding in critical burn scar areas, more flash flooding struck the area this past weekend. The National Guard was activated in the area to help evacuate residents out of the area, with many houses and other properties receiving heavy damage due to flooding. In videos captured by locals, dumpsters, vehicles, and anything you can think of was being washed away in the flooding.
