Reminder: 2nd Annual Fundraiser in Memory of a Greene Co Teen
A reminder that today is the 2nd Annual Road Trip in Memory of Harley McDonald. Nina McDonald says the festivities include the road trip to six locations, starting and ending at the Scranton Community Center. Registrations are 9-11am, with a $20 fee. The afternoon includes the beer garden opening at noon, followed by the 515 Cornhole Tournament at 2pm. Dinner is then served at 6pm, along with a variety of raffles at 7pm and a live auction at 7:15pm. The event wraps up with live musical entertainment at 8pm with Dirt Road Divide.

More Iowa High Schools Opt to Restrict Students’ Cell Phone Use
At least two more Iowa schools have recently moved to ban smart phones from high school classrooms. Casey Berlau, the superintendent of Carroll Community Schools, says cell phones were already prohibited in elementary and middle school classrooms in the district, but the ban now extends to the high school. High schoolers will be allowed to put their cell phones, smart watches and ear buds in their lockers.
2024: Iowa Breaks Tornado Record
If you thought the skies over Iowa seemed particularly volatile this year, you weren't imagining things. The National Weather Service says there were a record-breaking number of tornadoes in the Hawkeye State in 2024. The final tally is 122, which is two more than the previous high of 120 in 2004.

An Iowa teenager landed in the hottest of waters after being caught going well over 100 mph near Ottumwa. The kicker? He was driving on a suspended license. Alcester woman convicted of Wire Fraud
An Alcester woman has been convicted of wire fraud. Fifty-seven-year-old Michelle Warner is sentenced to two years in federal prison and over $250,000 in restitution. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Warner was an accountant, and later a business administrator, for Heartland Counseling Services and paid herself unauthorized payroll payments.
