The heat and humidity have returned for the weekend, thanks to high pressure skirting off to the east and winds picking up from the south in its wake. Those southerly breezes around 10 to 15 miles per hour are ushering in lots of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico (in addition to moisture transpired from the local corn crops) leading to increased temperatures and dew points.

Fast-Growing National Burger Chain Coming to Eastern Iowa
One of the fastest-growing burger restaurant chains in the nation will be coming to Eastern Iowa!. KCRG reports that Atlanta-based cheeseburger chain Smalls Sliders is planning multiple locations in Eastern Iowa, prioritizing the cities of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, Dubuque, Waterloo, and Burlington. Milford, IA (KICD) — Earlier this week we reported that Milford Municipal Utilities came to the city of Milford saying that an abandoned, galvanized, water service line should be disconnected from the main and removed.
