    Teen airlifted to hospital after being run over by pickup truck in Cosby

    COSBY, Tenn. (WATE) — A 13-year-old girl had to be airlifted to the hospital after she was run over by a truck Thursday morning in Cocke County .

    Deputies responded to Holly Court Road in Cosby. An incident reports states that deputies arrived at 9:45 a.m. and saw the teen’s leg trapped under the truck.

    The fire department helped lift the vehicle and rushed her to Cosby High School where a landing zone was set up for a LifeStar helicopter. She was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

    According to the report, family told deputies that the whole family was in the truck while it was backing out of the driveway when the truck slid off the driveway and started go down an embankment.

    The driver apparently put the truck in park and looked for something to give the truck traction, but the truck kept sliding. While trying to get out of the truck, the teen was knocked to the ground by the passenger door and the truck ran over her legs and abdomen.

    The teen was rushed to the hospital. The report indicates she was conscious and talking when first responders arrived.
